Dock Diving

As you can imagine from their name, Irish Water Spaniels adore entering the water with great speed and enthusiasm! There are several organisations that offer titles in multiple disciplines that promote furthest distance, highest grab and speed retrieve. Both the CKC and AKC recognizes titles from the North America Diving Dogs Association.

This sport requires a surprising amount of training for some dogs, as a clear pool of water is not a natural thing to they want jump into. There is an annual gathering in London Ontario called the Irish Splash Extravaganza where many Irish Water Spaniels how learn how to dock dive with the O’Leary family - rather famous and much-loved ambassadors of the breed.
